Let’s Begin the Healing

March 8, 2008

This sentencing is no longer about Jessica and Alex. At the February 20 hearing, the judge read from the previous hearing transcripts about Sara having to suffer at the loss of her dog. NO MENTION WAS MADE OF ALEX. We need to remind the court that this is about Alex and Jessica.

If you would like to support the beginning of the healing, instead of letting the blackness pervade, send your comments to this blog, and I’ll see that Steve gets them.

3/4/08 Jessica’s Sentencing Continued Again — DA Didn’t Get Briefings to Steve When Directed

March 8, 2008

I got a call from Jessica’s mom on Tuesday morning at about 9:30.  DA Smith had been directed by Judge Lodge to get any briefings to Jessica’s attorney, Steve Balash, by Friday.  This would allow him to review and respond before Tuesday.  IF he worked all weekend on it, of course.  Smith got the materials to Steve sometime on Monday.  The sentencing has been continued to the 18th.

2/20/08 Re-Sentencing: This Is Not About Alex and Jessica Anymore

March 8, 2008

I spoke Wednesday with Jessica’s mother and with her attorney, Steve Balash.  They had a difficult day in court.  Judge Lodge continues to slander Jessica, saying this is the most aggravated crash of drunk driving vehicular manslaughter he’s ever seen.  This is ridiculous, and this is not about Alex and Jessica any more.
